Art Camp days 2-4

I have really enjoyed art camp with these kids this week. Tomorrow is our last day and I know I'll be sad. I always get attached to the kids. Half of these kids, I've tutored all year. I think I'm finished tutoring for now... so I will miss them. They're all great kids.

I'll admit it was a bit hard at times trying to accomodate to 9 kids by myself for two hours strait... but it was only hard because I only have 2 hands. If I had 7-9 pairs of hands that would have been much more helpful. Luckily, my artistic sister came to the rescue the days we did paper  mache! I definitely couldn't have done it with out her... and Zoe of course. :)

Here's what we've done all week:

Monday- Paint T-shirts & Free draw

Tuesday - Start layering paper mache animal masks & water color a large 2-D illustration of animal

Wednesday- Finish layering paper mache masks & finish water coloring

Thursday - Paint and decorate masks & paint wooden picture frames for Father's Day. ( I took a picture of each child and put the picture in the frame.)

Friday - I will teach the children how to illustrate cartoons and animate them. We will also do some watercolors with our illustrations. If there's extra time, we'll paint wooden bird houses ( or insect feeders for the boys.)

I am so bummed tomorrow is the last day. I'll post one more soon from Art Camp!

Nick was so sweet and took the kids out to play the last 10 minutes until their parents arrived.

Just ignore my unfinished painted wallpaper in the background. :)

Parades & Art

This weekend was a lot of fun! I finally got out of the house and it felt like summer for a minute!

Utah is HUGE when it comes to parades and festivities. I love it. It's so American. Who else in the world is entertained by huge, weird, plastic things on wheels ( with lots of advertisement) driving by you at 1 mph while you sit in your lawn chairs waving at all the strangers on the floats as they throw you candy. I'm usually not a huge parade go-er... but when my friends are in the parade... I love it!

This year, McKell and Jason entered Nash in the "cutest baby contest" for Summer Fest. They just thought it would be fun and Jason's mom is always the MC for Summer Fest. It turns out baby Nash WON! I'm totally not surprised! He's SOOO cute. The judges loved him and his adorable personality. He even danced for them.

Here they are on their float. {and I have to add that McKell is 6 weeks pregnant! YAY!}

At the end of Summer Fest, we watched fire works! I LOVE fireworks. This was Nash's first time to see them... he was SO intrigued! ( and so was everyone else, apparently. haha)

He was really cute reaching up, trying to grab the fireworks.

Rachel and Ali spotted me out of the crowd!!! It was a ton of fun seeing them there.
Ali is in town for a little bit from Hawaii! Rach was a huge sport for letting me take a picture with her. She just got her wisdom teeth taken out!

Today I started my ART CAMP for KIDS!
It was a ton of fun!
Today we painted T-shirts, made book marks, and sketched illustrations.
Tomorrow.... we're doing paper mache masks!
I'll blog more throughout the week.

I love my kids! They're all so darling!

Pinteresting

Ok, people. If you haven't heard of the website "Pinterest", you're missing out.
It's a website where you can design your own categories and then "pin" other photos to those categories.

I have a binder where I have magazine pages ripped out of some favorite things I love and want to remember. This website is JUST like this but 1000x better!

It blows my mind how many creative people there are out there! I love it.
and I love that I can come back to my Pinterest anytime I am throwing a party.... making treats.... wanting to build a house ;) ..... ideas for baby clothes... etc! Seriously. I love it.

Here's a few pictures i've "pinned" onto my category " Home is Where the Heart is"
aka "for the Home."

I love these yellow doors!

I LOVE brick walls inside homes. At least one or two. So cozy.

I've already sent this picture to my dad... he's going to build this play house for our future children!
You're welcome, children.

I'm in LOVE with flower boxes. and Hydrangea!

Hello HUGE beautiful closet!

I LOVE old tubs like this. That's a lovely shower curtain too.

 ah... there she is.
Our future home. ;)
{don't love the garden area too much... but I love the walls and the color of the windows and doors.}

I think this is such a neat idea for a staircase!

 Entrance to the garden.

Beautiful kitchen! I LOVE those windows! I love windows!

 I LOVE that checkered floor!

What a lovely yellow chair.

 so lovely.

See what I mean? This site is for dreamers and creators and all sorts of folk. If you want to hop on the "pinterest" bandwagon, let me know, send me your e-mail, and I'll send you an invite. You won't regret it. { well, maybe you will b/c it's so addicting.}

Happy Pinning!

again

We painted pottery... AGAIN.
I'm telling you, I love it. I wasn't kidding. My mom has been in town for the past week so we went along with Holly, Ali, Ashley and Lance. (Nick was at home studying because he has midterms all next week.) I'm so proud of him for being so responsible. I could tell he wanted to come... ( didn't you guys see the post a while back of the goblet he painted?) He's a natural at this stuff, but he couldn't come. I painted a pie pan this time. I love painting because it's so relaxing and I get to be creative. So much fun.

Addicted.

Yep, sad but true. I'm addicted to painting pottery. Ashley and I went out last night and painted while Nick and my dad went home to do "manly" things. It was fun spending time with my sister though. I even had some lady tell me " I love your hair! Do you blow dry it?" Haha. Very interesting. I'm going to start collecting these hand painted mugs. Also, my friend Ali told me of a place where you can actually MAKE your own pottery on a wheel, and then paint it. I'm SO doing that next. See? Left handed people really ARE creative! haha.

Our Masterpieces

Remember when Nick and I painted pottery a few days ago? Well... here's the finished products. Enjoy!
HANH: (definition) A noise the Ying Yang twins make. Nick does too.
Since we were there for 4 hours, I took advantage of it... and painted like I've never painted before.
" This goblet turned out even better than I thought it would."- Nick
